Senior Lab Technician

About the Role

The Senior Lab Technician role requires close teamwork with design, systems and management to ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the Spirit Semiconductor lab. These activities will range from ensuring component stock to the management of test equipment calibration. This position reports to the Director of Systems and Validation and is based in Leeds. Occasional travel is required. 

This position has responsibility for:

• Day-to-day maintenance of the lab.
• Monitoring and purchase of lab stock, components, safety equipment etc.
• Ensuring evaluation boards are functional. 
• Ensuring anti-static measures are effective.
• Maintaining a register of equipment calibration.
• Rework and low component count board assembly.
• Design and assembly of test jigs.

About you

You should be capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and have a strong team ethic. You should have the following educational background and skills:

• 10+ years of experience years in electronics labs.
• Familiarity with RF test equipment and principles.
• Familiarity with PCB manufacturing technology.
• Ability to perform rework on SMT components.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
• Must demonstrate maturity, integrity, high energy and team spirit.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have:

• Understanding of RF testing principles.
• Use of schematic capture and layout to produce low complexity boards.
• Use of spreadsheets and similar tools for capture and management of data.
• Capacity to learn and deploy new skills.
• Team player who can see a problem and take ownership of it.
• Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
